What is the International Program?

Welcoming International Students

The International Program at DSJ helps students from non-German backgrounds to successfully transition into the German DIA curriculum (Deutsches Internationales Abitur), following a Trilingual Learning model. The program integrates students starting as early as Pre-Nursery, until latest Grade 6. Supported and accredited by both German and Indonesian authorities, our school has a long-established presence in Indonesia since 1956.

How does our International Program Work?

Effortlessly Adopting German

We prioritize a strong foundation in the mother tongue (English or Indonesian) while gradually introducing German through immersive activities like music and games. With individualized support from highly trained DaF  teachers (German as a Foreign Language), international students close the language gap and achieve German proficiency by the end of primary school. From grade 7, German becomes the primary language of instruction.

Seamlessly Merging our Two Programs

International Program students follow a specially designed learning model under the German Educational Quality Framework by the ZfA (Central Agency for German Schools Abroad). In Grades 5 and 6 (Orientation Level), both programs gradually merge to prepare students for Secondary Education. From Grade 7, all students follow the globally recognized DIA curriculum. German language support is provided where necessary.

Why the German School Stands Out

Our Core Values

At DSJ, we prioritize both personal and academic growth, empowering students to recognize their strengths, develop critical thinking, and cultivate independence (Selbstständigkeit). From an early age, students learn to take responsibility for their own learning and development, preparing them to thrive personally and academically. We promote a strong commitment to tolerance, social responsibility, and sustainability, equipping students to contribute positively to a global society.

Ready for the World

Our International Program shapes confident, independent individuals with strong multilingual skills, intercultural awareness, and a creative mindset. DSJ Graduates earn the DIA Diploma, a globally recognized qualification that opens pathways to top universities in Germany and worldwide. With this solid foundation for global success, the possibilities are endless. The only question is: where will your dreams take you?

We are an A-Rated SPK Accredited International School

What is SPK?

Satuan Pendidikan Kerjasama (SPK) refers to schools in Indonesia that collaborate with foreign educational institutions. SPK schools cater to both Indonesian and expatriate students and require approval from Indonesia’s Ministry of Education and Culture. DSJ is the only German School Abroad in Indonesia, operating under the supervision of the German Government (ZFA & KMK).

What are the SPK Rating Levels?

SPK schools in Indonesia follow a rating system set by the Ministry of Education, assessing compliance with national and international standards. Factors include curriculum quality, teaching methods, teacher qualifications, facilities, and governance. The accreditation is categorized into four levels based on following criteria:

A: Excellent — The highest rating for SPK schools that fully meet or exceed the Ministry's standards in all areas. These schools excel in delivering both Indonesian and international programs. This is what you can expect from Deutsche Schule Jakarta.

B: Good — Schools that meet most standards but have areas for improvement. These schools offer quality education, though not at an exceptional level.

C: Sufficient — Schools that meet the Ministry's minimum standards but require development in several areas to fully align with national and international expectations.

Not Accredited — Schools that do not meet the minimum standards or have not completed the accreditation process will not receive an official rating. They may need improvements in various areas before being recognized.
