What is the International Program?
Onboarding International Students
The International Program at DSJ helps students from non-German backgrounds to successfully transition into the German DIA curriculum, following a trilingual learning model. The program onboards students starting as early as nursery, until latest grade 6, with exceptions for highly talented students up to grade 7. Supported and accredited by both German and Indonesian authorities, our school has a long-established presence in Indonesia since 1956.
How does our International Program Work?
Effortlessly Adopting German
In our International Program, the focus lies on building a strong foundation in English and Indonesian first, while German is gradually introduced through immersive activities like music and games. Through individual support and native-speaking teachers trained in German as a Foreign Language (DaF), we ensure that international students close the language gap and become fully fluent in German by the end of primary school. Finally, starting from grade 7, German becomes the sole language of instruction.
Seamlessly Merging our Two Programs
While students in the German Program use the German DIA curiculum from the start, International Program students follow an adjusted Indonesian curriculum for International Schools (SPK) at first. In grades 5 and 6, the two programs gradually merge, with some subjects taught together, while others remain tailored for international students. During this phase, elements from both the German DIA and Indonesian national curricula are used. By Grade 7, all students fully transition into the globally accepted DIA curriculum.

Our School Programs Compared
International Program
Subjects are taught in English, Indonesian and German as a foreign language (DaF), according to the principle of „one teacher, one language".
Corresponding subjects are assigned to each respective language.
Ideal for Indonesian and Expat children that don't speak German.
German Global Program
For all subjects, the daily language of instruction is German, apart from the subject English, which is taught in its own language.
Ideal for German-speaking children, and families who want to fast track onto the German education path with international exposure.

Admission Requirements
Class Trial | New and Local Students
To ensure that your child feels comfortable and will succeed in a multilanguage environment, we conduct class trials before admission and discuss the assessment results and best course of action. Students starting school or transfering from a local Indonesian school follow the regular admission procedures and fees.
Trial Year | International Transfer
Students transferring from another international school can benefit from our One-Year Trial Program. While regular fees apply, the enrollment fee is deferred until the following academic year, giving families a flexible option to see if DSJ is the right fit.
Nationality
All nationalities are welcome, including Germans.
Age / Grade
Students from Nursery until Grade 6 are eligible to join. In special cases we allow entrance in Grade 7, please get in touch with our Admission.
Language
Intermediate proficiency in Indonesian or English is required (equivalent to CEFR Level B1).
Upper Primary (Grade 5 & 6)
Above-average performance in Math and Science.

What is SPK?
Satuan Pendidikan Kerjasama (SPK) refers to schools in Indonesia that collaborate with foreign educational institutions. These schools implement a curriculum that is a blend of the Indonesian national curriculum and international curricula, incorporating education systems like the
IB (International Baccalaureate), Cambridge, or
German DIA (Deutsches Internationales Abitur). SPK schools are designed for both Indonesian students and expatriates, and must be approved by the Ministry of Education and Culture in Indonesia.
What are the SPK Rating Levels?
SPK schools in Indonesia follow a structured rating system established by the Indonesian Ministry of Education, reflecting the quality of education and adherence to both national and international standards, considering factors such as curriculum quality, teaching processes, teacher qualifications, infrastructure and facilities, management and governance. The rating levels for SPK accreditation are categorized into four levels:
A: Excellent — The highest rating for SPK schools that meet or exceed the standards set by the Ministry in every aspect. Schools with this rating demonstrate outstanding performance in delivering both Indonesian and international programs.
This is what you can expect from us.
B: Good — Schools that meet most standards, but have certain areas that would benefit from further development. These schools are considered to provide quality education, but without being exceptional.
C: Sufficient — Schools that meet the minimum standards set by the Ministry, but have multiple areas that need development to fully align with both national and international expectations.
Not Accredited — If an SPK school does not meet the minimum standards or has failed to complete the accreditation process, it will not receive an official rating. These schools may need to improve in various aspects before being recognized.
