The Spirit of Football, a German foundation, utilizes football to foster positive global change. The Ball has traveled across 5 continents, 50+ countries, gathering thousands of signatures and pledges to address pressing societal and environmental challenges. It has become a symbol of unity, reminiscent of the Olympic Torch in the world of football.

In May 2023, the German School Jakarta proudly welcomed The Ball on its way to the FIFA Women's World Cup. The school hosted a Spirit of Football workshop, allowing selected students to actively engage in activities focused on climate action, sustainability, and equality.

During the workshop, students explored the profound impact of climate change globally and in Indonesia, learned about the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, and focused on the importance of fair play in football.

Inspired by the workshop, students became Green Sustainability Ambassadors, signing The Ball and pledging to contribute to a greener and more equal future. The excitement continued during the school festival, where the student Ambassadors proudly repeated their pledges in front of the entire school community. The participation of the German Ambassador Ina Lepel, the school principal Peter Hoffmann, and board member Daniel Benes further emphasized the collective dedication to a brighter and more sustainable future.

The Spirit of Football event and workshop ignited a sense of responsibility among students, prompting the integration of these values into the school's curriculum. The German School Jakarta remains committed to fostering a sustainable future, empowering all students to make a positive impact not only within Jakarta but also beyond.
