This annual event brought together our students and community to explore energy in its various forms, from traditional carbon-based sources to sustainable innovations in solar, wind, and water power.
Throughout the week, students across all departments engaged in a series of workshops, hands-on projects, and thought-provoking discussions, all aimed at exploring how we can generate and use energy more responsibly for a sustainable future.
In our youngest departments, the kindergarten and preschool students discovered energy through the lens of nature. They explored the power of the sun and wind by building devices like solar ovens and wind-powered kites, learning how these natural forces can be harnessed to create energy. Their projects connected play with real-world applications, teaching the importance of sustainable practices early on.
The primary school students took a hands-on approach by building solar-powered mobiles, watermills, windmills, and handheld ventilators made from plastic bottles and rubber bands. Through experiments and creative projects, they actively explored how renewable energy works. They also created interactive presentations on electricity, gaining a deeper understanding of the importance of energy conservation in everyday life.
The older students participated in workshops that focused on discussing the challenges and solutions related to energy production and consumption. They explored the impact of energy usage within their own school through surveys and discussions. Additionally, they delved into the environmental and social effects of fast fashion while learning about more sustainable industries and practices.
Another highlight was the presentation by
Mr. Burkhard Hintz from KfW during the opening event, where he discussed the ‘Opportunities of the Energy Transition for Germany and Indonesia.’ We would like to express our sincere thanks to Mr. Hintz for his valuable contributions and support in kicking off our Green Week.
We also extend our gratitude to our partners, Stromnesia and BYD, whose contributions were integral to this year’s Green Week. Stromnesia demonstrated various clean energy setups, offering students a hands-on opportunity to explore how solar and wind energy work in real-life applications. BYD showcased their electric vehicles and provided test drives, giving everyone the chance to experience cutting-edge sustainable mobility solutions.
To conclude Green Week, we presented a special video (which you can watch below) that captured the week’s highlights and showcased the students’ incredible work. This was complemented by an exhibition where all classes and students presented their findings, creative artworks, and innovative devices. The school community had the opportunity to explore these projects, celebrating the students’ efforts and discoveries throughout the week. Thank you all for you spirited participation!
Throughout this week of learning, hands-on engagement with sustainable energy solutions, and thoughtful reflection on our collective impact, our students are better equipped to face the challenges of tomorrow and contribute to a more sustainable world. Let’s remember:
This is our only planet, our only home – and it is our responsibility to take care of it!
