Early childhood education means the self-education of each child, discovering the world for oneself while experiencing emotional security and comfort. Independence and responsibility for one’s own learning are core and recurring themes throughout the DSJ education. Our educational work is based on the present moment development of each child and its
individual needs, experiences, feelings, interests, and abilities. These form the starting point for our proven pedagogy that guides your child on its journey of self-discovery.
Our holistic approach encompasses the fields of personality and motoric skills development, linguistic and literacy capabilities, mathematics, natural science, music and arts, as well as social and intercultural education. Our
daily rituals give children the necessary security while being flexible and therefore offering the opportunity to play freely, participate in guided activities, and experience what it means to be part of a group. Watch our
Early Learning Video for more detail.
01
Providing a safe and secure environment
for children to explore and discover the world around them, both emotionally and physically
02
Encouraging children
to discover their interests and learning styles — stimulation of the mind, body and all the senses are built into the activities provided, as we keep track of your child’s development milestones
03
Exposing children to different cultures — as a school of encounters (Begegnungsschule), cultural exchanges, especially between German and Indonesian cultures, are embedded in our curriculum and annual events
04
Developing and supporting every child’s potential — we focus on each child as an individual supporting them as they explore their environment and discover the world we live in
At the DSJ we take our children’s physical activity seriously because it drastically improves their health in the present and in their future lives as adults. Our spacious outdoor park is protected by large trees and offers our children ample space and opportunities to blossom and invites healthy movement. In addition to slides, swings, and seesaws, there is a sandpit with a water pump and a large wooden boat. We also provide a child-safe swimming pool.
Our premises offer the children large classrooms with an artist’s corner and an area for scientific, mathematical, and linguistic experiences. Adjacent to the main classroom is a large area for construction where children can build on different heights and levels with various materials. In our multi-purpose rooms, we offer a library for the pre-school department, a relaxation room, and a role play area.

Pre-Nursery 2–3 years
Nursery 3–4 years
Junior Preschool 4–5 years
Senior Preschool 5–6 years
Our international early years program groups our preschool children in accordance with their developmental milestones and uses age groups as a guideline. The international program begins in preschool and ends in primary 6, wherein grade 5 and 6, the classes are merged with the German International program in what is known as the orientation levels in preparation for secondary school.
We welcome all families
without German language background with the goal to gradually introduce German through songs and games. Getting used to hearing German and acquiring basic vocabulary is key to preparing the children for the German as a foreign language Program (DaF) in the primary years. Most of our families’ main language is either Indonesian or English, therefore we focus on the development of language acquisition as well as other milestones when working with your children.
Languages are a unique part of this program, as we use
English and Indonesian as a natural part of our daily routine for different activities. To ensure that the foundation and structure for each respective language is strong, we have a
One-Teacher-One-Language System in place, with respect to the stages of language acquisition in children.
Our Special Enrolment Program accepts all children between 2 and 6 years regardless of their cultural background and without any prior German language skills.
Registration can be done anytime during the school year.

learn and immerse into the German language, as interaction mostly takes place in German.
Our proven pedagogical concept, based on German and international approaches to early childhood education, offers the ideal setting for your child’s early education. In order to meet the
demands of our globalised world, your child will also learn and be exposed to English and Indonesian during specific classes.
Intercultural and inter-religious festivals and education enrich our curriculum further.
