Program: German

Graduate: University of Mainz

Subjects: Ethics, History

Sam Bayat studied at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (JGU) and teaches History and Ethics. He has been working as a teacher since 2014 and will join the German School Jakarta in August 2025 as Middle School Coordinator, bringing with him extensive experience and a passion for education.

Herr Bayat became a teacher because his ethics teacher had a lasting influence on him through his personality and way of teaching. What he values most about his profession is being part of the development process of young people – witnessing how they grow, mature, and find their own path. What makes DSJ special for Herr Bayat is the encounter with a new culture embedded within familiar German structures. He sees this combination of cultural exchange and educational continuity as a great enrichment.

His educational motto is: I take my students seriously without taking myself too seriously. This mix of humor and respect shapes both his lessons and his approach to everyday school life.

In his free time, Herr Bayat enjoys football and traveling – two passions that, for him, represent community, enthusiasm, and an open-minded view of the world.
His favorite quote is: “Respect is not a one-way street – those who always want the right of way will eventually stand alone.”
