Subjects: French, German

Laura Hoffmann has been teaching German and French at the German School Jakarta (DSJ) since 2024. She studied at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz and the Université de Bourgogne Dijon, bringing her passion for language, culture, and intercultural exchange into the classroom.

Frau Hoffmann became a teacher because she loves working with young people, broadening their horizons, and inspiring them to discover the beauty of languages. What she enjoys most about her profession is that every school day is different and full of new, often humorous, moments. Her teaching motto, “Beyond right and wrong, there is a field. I’ll meet you there.” by Rumi, reflects her belief that learning happens beyond rigid structures — in spaces of curiosity, connection, and openness.

At DSJ, Frau Hoffmann especially values the spirit of openness and intercultural exchange that defines the school community. She sees this diversity as an enrichment for everyone — students and teachers alike — creating an atmosphere of respect and mutual understanding.

Outside the classroom, Frau Hoffmann enjoys languages, baking, and traveling — interests that mirror her love for cultural discovery and exploration. Her favorite quote by Simone de Beauvoir, “Exister, c’est oser se jeter dans le monde,” expresses her life philosophy: to live means to dare, to step into the world, and to embrace the new.

With her enthusiasm for languages, her intercultural awareness, and her positive spirit, Frau Hoffmann contributes greatly to the vibrant and welcoming atmosphere at the German School Jakarta.
