Since the beginning of the 2023/24 school year, Larissa Pangestian Harahap has been working as the Coordinator for German as a Foreign Language (DaF) at the German School Jakarta, bringing her extensive experience and passion for language, music, and culture into the classroom. Frau Harahap earned an M.A. in German as a Foreign Language from the University of Leipzig and a B.A. in Speech Science from Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg.

She is also a state-certified ensemble conductor, trained at the Vocational Music School in Altötting. Her career has included positions at the Goethe-Institut in Germany and Indonesia, the Herder Institute, Leipzig University, Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, and Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta. These diverse experiences allow her to apply and share her expertise in multiple educational contexts.

Frau Harahap became a teacher because she loves sharing her passion for language, music, and culture with young people. She finds it particularly rewarding to motivate students, build their confidence, and foster a love for learning. At DSJ, she appreciates the opportunity to create a lively learning environment, nurture individual talents, and build strong connections between teachers and students.

Her teaching motto is “Learning with passion – for a lifetime,” reflecting her philosophy of continuous learning. In her free time, Frau Harahap enjoys music and spending time with her family. Her favorite quote by Charlie Chaplin, “A day without laughter is a day wasted,” highlights her positive and inspiring approach to teaching. She concludes with her personal message: “Languages open doors,” a belief that guides her work and encourages students to explore the world of language and culture with curiosity.
