Since October 2005, Evana Manurung has been a valued member of the German School Jakarta team. With her extensive experience, calm presence, and passion for working with children, she brings positivity and warmth into the daily life of the kindergarten. She graduated from Universitas Indonesia and has dedicated many years to early childhood education. Her decision to become an educator stems from her belief that school is not only a place for learning but also for living – for both children and teachers alike. Growing and developing together with the children is what she values most, as she sees learning as a dynamic and lifelong journey.
What Ms. Eva loves most about her work is the joy and enthusiasm of the children, which fills each day with inspiration and meaning. She particularly appreciates the DSJ’s multicultural community, where diverse cultures coexist in mutual respect and understanding. For her, this environment enriches daily life and helps foster empathy and connection among students and staff.
Her educational motto is: “The joy of learning arises when we have fun while learning.” This philosophy shapes her teaching and encourages children to explore with curiosity and happiness. In her free time, she enjoys listening to music, admiring scenic views, and finding peace in nature. Her favorite quote, “Cogito, ergo sum” by René Descartes, reflects her belief that conscious thought is the foundation of learning and growth.
With her kindness, patience, and inspiring nature, Ms. Eva helps create a nurturing environment at the DSJ kindergarten — a place where children feel safe, valued, and free to grow and discover the world around them.
