On December 12, 2024, the auditorium of the Deutsche Schule Jakarta transformed into a stage for an unforgettable theater performance.

The Jakarta Players presented “Jacob Marley’s Christmas Carol,” a deeply moving yet humorous adaptation of the classic Christmas tale – exclusively for our school community.

The performances of the lead actors – Heriska Suthapa, Rakaputra Paputungan, Indira Prana, David Knowles – were simply outstanding. With remarkable presence and emotional depth, they captivated the audience from the very first moment. Particularly Marley’s transformation was portrayed with such sensitivity and energy that the viewers found themselves laughing, rooting for him, and moved to tears.

A special highlight was seeing DSJ students participating in several scenes as extras. Their contributions added a personal touch to the play and showcased the vibrant theater culture at our school. The collaboration with the Jakarta Players was made possible by Ms. Happe, who, together with Mr. Müller, has already brought numerous successful theater projects to life at DSJ – a wonderful example of the enriching connection between schools and the theater community.

The two-hour play concluded with thunderous applause and a standing ovation from students, teachers, and parents. This event was more than just a theater performance – it was a celebration of community spirit, creativity, and the magic that comes alive on stage.
