Sankt Martin and "Laternenumzug"

On Saturday, the 15th of November, we officially kicked off the Vorweihnachtszeit at Deutsche Schule Jakarta with our traditional Laternenfest.

After two heartwarming St. Martin performances in the auditorium, the children proudly collected their handmade lanterns — and off they went: glowing and singing their way around the entire campus. At three music stations, our school orchestra accompanied the children as they sang traditional lantern songs — and everywhere, little eyes sparkled with excitement.

To end this magical evening, families enjoyed barbecue, crêpes, and a cheerful get-together in the Kindergarten foyer.

Project Day: "Weihnachtsbasteln"

And just like that… we are fully in the Christmas spirit: on Friday, November 21, our students continued their journey through the Vorweihnachtszeit with another joyful celebration. This time, they created festive Christmas tree collages, decorated winter-themed stickers, painted beautiful watercolor cards, and danced their hearts out in Weihnachtstanz. And of course — what would the season be without a little baking magic in our Weihnachtsbäckerei?

The school was filled with creativity, laughter, and that unmistakable holiday sparkle — a wonderful continuation of our festive traditions and memories already in the making. ✨🎄

And the best part? This is only the beginning — there’s still more Christmas magic ahead. ❤️

Nikolaus visits our KITA

🎄Vorweihnachtszeit at the Kindergarten ...

Every day is filled with magic and Christmas wonder – and on Friday, 5 December, the excitement reached its first peak when Nikolaus himself visited our school! ✨ With his big golden book and a sack full of surprises, he brought smiles, curiosity, and a little sparkle to every corner of the room.

Baking, crafting, drilling – our little elves can do it all! And us teachers? We’re amazed anew every single day. 💛

Our children's curiosity, creativity, and joy turn even the smallest moments into something truly special. With flour on their cheeks, glitter on their sleeves, and big bright eyes full of excitement, they bring the holiday spirit to life in the most beautiful way.

What a magical season to share with them. 🎅🏻🧁🎁

Nikolaus visits Preschool

Our preschoolers also got to meet Nikolaus – a highly anticipated visit. With his familiar red coat and a sack full of surprises, he called each child forward one by one. 🎁

Some stepped up with shy, careful steps, others with curious eyes and bold little hearts ready for a courageous hug.

It’s moments like these – full of wonder, bravery, and big emotions in tiny bodies – that make this season so special to share. 🎄✨

Nikolaus visits the Grundschule

Our Grundschule children were buzzing with excitement as they waited for Nikolaus to appear in the classroom.

With his big red book in hand, he shared a few kind words about all the good things they’ve been doing – and maybe one or two little things to work on for next year. 🎅❄️

The children thanked him in the best way possible: with singing, dancing, and lots of bright smiles. And of course, they each received a small gift before heading off to their second adventure of the day – ice skating at Taman Anggrek! ⛸️

Nothing like proving your skating skills in the middle of the tropics. 😄✨

Our Christmas Festival 2025

Our DSJ Vorweihnachtszeit reached its joyful peak on Saturday, 6 December, as we gathered for our beloved Weihnachtsfest – a truly German original in the heart of BSD. 🎄

Cake, cookies, Bratwürste, Glühwein, and Indonesian favorites, creating the perfect blend of home and holiday spirit. Children moved between crafting stations, Christmas tattoos, and little DIY decorations – there was truly something for everyone. ✂️⭐️

In the auditorium, our Weihnachtsorchestra and choir set the mood beautifully, while on stage in the hall, students from Kindergarten all the way up to the school band delivered charming, funny, and heartfelt performances. 🎶

Crowded, cozy, loud, and full of sparkle – a real Weihnachtsfest, and the perfect way to step into the holidays together. ❤️
